What are empty calories?
We always hear about empty calories and that we should stay away from them, especially when wanting to lose weight. But, what are these empty calories and are they the same for everyone? Can some of us afford to indulge in some while not others?
And is it even possible to avoid empty calories all together? Well, let’s find out together…
By definition an empty calorie has the same energy content as any other calorie.
Where it differs, from what I like to call a “full” calorie is that it lacks many accompanying nutrients such as vitamins, dietary minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, or dietary fiber.
